How long should the hair be?

Your beautician can advise based on the area and your last hair-removal session. Avoid shaving immediately before your appointment, which may leave too little hair for effective removal.
Important safety checks before waxing
Do not wax sunburned, broken or markedly inflamed skin. Waxing is unsafe during isotretinoin treatment and for six months after stopping it, according to the AAD. Facial retinoids and certain other medications also raise the risk of skin injury; disclose them before the appointment. If you are prone to allergic reactions, discuss ingredients rather than assuming a botanical-sounding product must be gentle.

The area is prepared, wax is applied and hairs are removed with the appropriate technique. A brief sting is normal, and skin may look pink afterward.
